Spotify has been a PlayStation partner for several years, and a new report claims that Apple Music may also appear on the PlayStation 5 in the future.

According to reports, some users have noticed that the app is offered to them when they create a new US-based PS5 account, but it cannot be installed.

A Reddit user posted a picture of himself installing the Apple Music app on his PlayStation 5 in the Apple Music subreddit. When the user attempted to do so, the error message “This app is only playable on PS4” appeared.

Apple Music is already available on a variety of other devices, such as Samsung Smart TVs, Google Next, and Android.

The PS5 price comes in at $499 (£449 / AU$749.95) – the same cost as the Xbox Series X price.

The PS5 Digital edition is essentially the same as the PlayStation 5, with the same processing power as the disc drive-equipped version.

In its most recent earnings report, Sony revealed that PlayStation Plus has 47.7 million subscribers worldwide, a 14.7% increase (year-on-year).
