US President Joe Biden’s annual medical checkup will be completed in two weeks, the White House announced Wednesday, saying that the procedure had been delayed due to busy scheduling.
“The president’s physical will be completed February 16 and released publicly in the same manner it was back in 2021,” Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.
Biden, who is 80 and expected to be announcing he will run for reelection soon, had been previously scheduled to complete his health examination by the end of January.
“This was literally a matter of scheduling around what has been an incredibly busy, busy schedule for the president the past several months,” Jean-Pierre said.
If he does win a second term, Biden would be 86 by the time he stepped down. He is already the oldest person ever in the US presidency.
In November 2021, Biden’s doctor Kevin O’Connor said in a public report after that year’s physical that the president “remains fit for duty.”
