According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Taiwan is an integral part of China and will eventually “return to the embrace of the motherland,” Bloomberg reported Monday.

“Taiwan will eventually return to the arms of the motherland,” he said at a press conference.

According to Russian media RT, he recalled that in order to contain China, some forces in the US encourage those who advocate Taiwan independence, thereby challenging the “one China” principle.

“Attempts to use Taiwan to contain China are doomed to failure,” RIA Novosti quoted the Minister as saying.

Wang also stated that China will steadfastly defend national sovereignty in the face of increasing US pressure and is prepared to take all necessary measures to that end.

In February, China decided to retaliate against the US for arms sales to Taiwan by targeting Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies.
