The Chinese embassy in Sudan on Thursday urged its nationals to “leave Sudan immediately”, after five days of drone strikes on Port Sudan, the army-led government’s de facto wartime capital.
“This news concerns Chinese individuals, not institutions,” the brief statement on the embassy’s social media pages said, without elaborating.
The statement came after rights group Amnesty International reported Chinese-manufactured weapons were provided by the United Arab Emirates to the country’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces battling the regular army.
