The Egyptian foreign ministry warned Monday of “the dangers of the potential Israeli military operation in Rafah”, stressing “grave humanitarian risks” for the more than one million Gazans sheltering there.

Cairo in a statement urged Israel to “exercise the utmost restraint and avoid further escalation at an extremely sensitive time” for truce talks in the Israel-Hamas war, which Egypt has helped mediate along with the United States and Qatar.
