Addressing a conference designed to attract foreign scientists on Monday, EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said questioning the role of science was “a gigantic miscalculation”.
“Science holds the key to our future here in Europe,” she said, as the conference aimed at luring researchers — especially from the US under Donald Trump — kicked off in Paris.
