Gallant tells US Israel has ‘duty’ to expand Rafah ground assault

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said Monday he told visiting US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan of Israel’s “duty” to expand its ground offensive in Gaza’s far-southern city of Rafah.

“I emphasised to him Israel’s duty to expand the ground operation in Rafah, to dismantle Hamas and to return the hostages,” Gallant said in a post on X after the pair held talks in Tel Aviv earlier on Monday.
