Germany’s DAX index hits new record over 19,700 points

Asian markets drop as US jobs data stoke recession fears

Germany’s blue-chip DAX index hit a fresh record high on Monday, following an upwards trend seen in the United States and on Asian markets.

The DAX sat at 19,717 at 1040 GMT, above its previous intra-day record of 19,674 set in October.
