Colombia’s largest active guerrilla group kidnapped 39 people in the country’s northwest, including a minor, the military reported Tuesday.
The National Liberation Army (ELN) captured the people on a road in the remote Choco region where the armed group has a strong presence.
“We demand that the ELN respect the lives and well-being of the kidnapped individuals and proceed with their immediate and unconditional release,” the Colombian army said.
