Hungary, close to the Kremlin and dependent on Russian energy, on Tuesday slammed the EU’s proposal to phase out the bloc’s remaining gas imports from Russia by the end of 2027 as an “extremely serious mistake”.
“After the complete failure of the sanctions against Russia, the European Commission is now making another extremely serious mistake by forcibly, artificially and ideologically excluding energy sources from Russia out of Europe,” Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Facebook.
