Multiple users are experiencing issues with Instagram stories playback going too fast or skipping stories automatically. Instagram is a popular photo-sharing platform used by Millenials and Gen Z. The stories feature is widely used for sharing daily updates.

Reports of Instagram stories going fast or skipping ahead

Instagram users check up on their followers and friends by viewing their stories. But a recent glitch has caused the stories to play too fast or skip.

Users took their complaints to social media and expressed their annoyance.

“Anyone else stories going way too fast / skipping ahead? This started around an hour ago both on my cellphone and tablet. If you push to go to the next story, it goes super fast and in some cases just skips the story. You can’t go back to it either. For example, I wanted to see that person’s story so I would go to their profile to see it, it will just skip ahead,” a user posted on Reddit.

Apparently, the problem is primarily affecting stories with static images and not video stories.

“Instagram stories skipping glitch. I started experiencing a glitch on Instagram this morning and couldn’t find any info about it online. When I’m viewing stories all the static photo posts are being skipped in half a second while the videos are fine,” another user posted.

The recent Android update could be the cause

Instagram received a new update for Android on October 25. Moreover, most of the complaints of the stories glitch appear to come from Android users. So, it is possible that the recent update could have brought along the bug.

Besides, the latest Instagram update for iOS devices came on October 17, so it has been more than a week to it.

There has been no official acknowledgement of the issue from Instagram support team.
