Instagram users ask to turn off  ‘Broadcast channels’ invite notifications

Instagram constantly introduces new features to enhance the platform’s functionality. Recently, the feature of ‘Broadcast Channels’ was added, allowing content creators to engage with their followers in a unique way.

The company announced in a blog post that creators on Instagram will be able to establish Channels to share exclusive updates and behind-the-scenes moments with their followers.

These channels will enable creators to share voice notes and create polls to receive feedback from their audience. Only creators will be able to send messages in broadcast channels, while followers can react to content and participate in polls.

Many frustrated users have taken to online forums to vent their frustration about the notifications overload.

A user claimed to have received over 1700 notifications, causing significant irritation.

“Wtf are these Instagram broadcast channels and why in the name of all that is holy can we not turn off those notifications ?? never been so annoyed at an app in my life,” said one user.

Another user accused the repeated notifications of draining their smartphone’s battery.

Some are even questioning the point of these notifications if they are uninterested in joining any broadcast channels.

Those affected are requesting Instagram to introduce an option to disable all invite notifications at once.

No official acknowledgment + possible workaround

Instagram has not responded to any user’s complaint for now. But there might be a way to resolve the issue.

“Followers can leave or mute broadcast channels at any time, or turn off a creator’s broadcast channels notifications entirely,” says Instagram’s official blog post about Broadcast Channels. So affected users can try this and see if it works for them.

We hope that Instagram will address users’ demands and take the necessary steps to rectify the issue.
