Israel’s foreign minister on Wednesday said Colombian President Gustavo Petro’s decision to cut diplomatic ties between the two countries over the war in Gaza amounted to handing a “reward” to Hamas.

“The Colombian president has promised to reward Hamas murderers and rapists — and today he delivered,” Israel Katz said on X, formerly Twitter, warning that “history will remember that Gustavo Petro decided to stand by the most despicable monsters humanity has known”.
