North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has directed the military to complete preparations for dealing with “any military provocation of enemies,” according to a state media report on Friday.

Kim made the remarks while chairing a workshop for military commanders and political cadres in Pyongyang on July 24-27, according to Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

“Commanders and political officers should focus all efforts on completing preparations for actively and offensively coping with any military provocation of enemies,” Kim was quoted as saying.

Kim called on all Korean People’s Army (KPA) commanders and political commissars to “make redoubled efforts than ever before” to seriously review their overall work, find ways to overcome shortcomings and deviations, and exchange good experiences, according to a Xinhua news agency report citing a KCNA report.

During the four-day workshop, he accused “hostile forces” of intensifying “frantic and persistent war drills for aggression,” urging North Korean military personnel to devote their lives to protecting people and property.
