Laptops are a fabulous invention. You can use them anywhere, which means that you can work from anywhere, and it has opened up a whole new world of employment. Not to mention all the gaming, googling, and other fun stuff you can do without having to be chained to one place. However, there are some things you should consider before you get one for yourself. Read this laptop buying guide to find out more.

Spec

The higher the spec of the laptop, the greater the power and speed it will give you. However, you will pay for it, so it is worth considering whether you actually need the things that a top-of-the-range spec will give you or whether you could make do with a lower spec because it won’t hurt your wallet as much.

Battery

Some people pay a lot of attention to the length of the battery life in a laptop. However, when you think about it, even if you are giving work presentations on it, depending on where you are giving the presentation, you can usually find a mains socket to plug the laptop in anyway, especially if you want to preserve the battery life. You don’t need more than a few hours, so you don’t need to limit yourself too much.

Feel

The keyboard of your laptop should feel comfortable for you. The keys should be easy to press but not so easy that you create spelling mistakes if you are a bit heavy-handed. The buttons should be well spaced for your fingers, and you should be able to see the keys and screen clearly. Make sure you are comfortable with the feel of the laptop before you part with your money.

Size

Most people are most comfortable with a laptop that has a screen between 12”-14”. This is big enough to see clearly but not too big to carry around with you and it weighs around 4lb. However, if you want a more lightweight option, you could consider getting a smaller laptop. An 11”-12” laptop weighs around 31b and it is thinner than a larger one.

Brand

It is best to opt for a reputable brand and read the reviews before you commit to buying one. The black Lenovo Laptops have an excellent reputation, so you know you are buying good quality. A less well-known brand might not have as many reviews, and you will not have as much certainty over what you are buying.

Price

As with many purchases the final decision comes down to price. However, you should remember that you get what you pay for, so buying cheaper isn’t always better, especially if you want your laptop to have a high spec and a large screen. Buying the best that you can afford will give you a happy medium and won’t completely break the bank but should hopefully do everything you want it to.

Hopefully, you now have a good understanding of what to check before you buy your laptop. Keep these things in mind while you are shopping, and you shouldn’t go wrong.
