There is “little time left” before a major wildfire in the Madrid region covering 6,000 hectares merges with a 9,000-hectare blaze in the neighbouring Castilla y Leon region, an official said Friday.
“It is very bad news,” the central government’s representative in Castilla y Leon, Nicanor Sen Velez, told a news conference, referring to a fire in Avila province and the Madrid region blaze which began as two separate outbreaks before joining into a single front.
