Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday told China’s Xi Jinping that relations between Moscow and Beijing benefit both nations and were not in opposition to others.

“We are developing our ties for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and are not opposed to anyone,” Putin told Xi at the start of talks in Moscow, where the Chinese leader is visiting ahead of large May 9 celebrations to mark 80 years since the defeat of Nazi Germany.
