UPDATE 2: 15 people are dead including a teacher in Elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, CNN reported citing Gov. Abbott.

UPDATE 1: At least 2 children killed, multiple injured as a result of shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. According to a Facebook post from the Uvalde Police Department, the shooter is in police custody and students are being transported to the city’s civic centre for reunification.

Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, has an active shooter, school district said Tuesday.

“There is an active shooter at Robb Elementary. Law enforcement is on site. Your cooperation is needed at this time by not visiting the campus. As soon as more information is gathered it will be shared,” Uvalde CISD said.

The rest of the district is under a Secure Status, it added in the statement.

Locals reported hearing gunfire. People have been asked to avoid the area.

Due to gunshots in the area, all campuses are on lockdown, and students and staff are safe inside the building.

According to UPD, the scene is still active, and parents are being asked to pick up their children at the Sgt. Willie Deleon Civic Center.

The Uvalde Police Department said on Facebook Tuesday morning that there was a heavy police presence, but no reason was given.
