Shooting at Northwest High School in Omaha, 1 injured, suspect in custody

Omaha police have confirmed a shooting at Northwest High School, which was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. The school was immediately placed on lockdown, local media reported.

Omaha police reportedly confirmed that a 15-year-old was critically injured and transported to the hospital. Officers are currently searching for a “young” suspect, although no description of the suspect has been provided.

Omaha Police Department: “We are actively investigating a shooting that occurred at or near Omaha Northwest High School. There is reported to be one victim at this time. The school is currently in lockdown. We will continue to update as we get more details.”

Omaha police report that an individual believed to be the suspect in the shooting has been taken into custody.

Police will remain in the area to continue the investigation and assist with reunification with parents, Omaha Police Department said.

Marian High School and Roncalli Catholic High School have also been put on lockdown, according to KETV.
