UPDATE: The suspect who shot a police officer late Tuesday night, then barricaded himself in a Honey Grove home leading to a standoff with law enforcement overnight is now dead, law enforcement confirms.
A man remains barricaded in a home in Honey Grove’s 800 block of Hickory Street this morning after shooting a Honey Grove officer in a standoff that began at 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Unconfirmed social media report says, children are inside the home.

Neighbors say they have heard multiple gun shots this morning. Lots of authorities still on scene, suspect is barricaded inside a home.
The neighbourhood has been evacuated, and the public is asked to avoid the area, according to Sgt. Mark Tackett of the Department of Public Safety in a news release.

Tackett reported that the Honey Grove officer was flown to a nearby trauma centre for treatment after being shot in the leg during the standoff. At the time of the report, their medical condition was unknown.
“The suspect has not been taken into custody and remains barricaded in the residence,” Tackett said.
There is a large law enforcement presence in the area, including Honey Grove Police, Paris Police Department and others.
