WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A suspect is in custody after a shooting on the campus of Warner Robins High School Wednesday afternoon left two students injured, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

The two students were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Sheriff Matt Moulton said in an update. The school has since been secured.

Dozens of law enforcement officers from agencies across Central Georgia responded to the school following reports of the shooting, prompting authorities to urge the public to avoid the area along South Davis Drive and use alternate routes while first responders carried out their duties.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting remains under active investigation. Officials have not released additional details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No further information was immediately available.
