Hoax: No active shooter found at Savannah High School, mayor says

Alabama police plead for tips in deadly birthday party shooting

Police responded to unconfirmed reports of active shooter at Savannah High School on the city’s eastside Wednesday morning.

“LEO on site @ Savannah High and Savannah Early College this morning in response to unconfirmed reports of a gunman in the area of the campus. A lockdown was initiated,” Savannah-Chatham County Public School System said. “There is no information to confirm that the reports are accurate; however, we take all threats very seriously.”

Social media activity indicates a possible shooting. This has yet to be confirmed.

Multiple police cars from various jurisdictions are on the scene.

Students have been evacuated to a safe location and parents will be notified of the reunification plan as soon as possible, the SCCPSS said.

UPDATE:

According to Savannah Mayor Johnson, there were reports of an active shooter, but no shooter was found and no one was injured, WTCO11 reported.
