Some fortunate Spotify listeners got to take a trip down memory lane. Spotify showed users the ‘‘First song you played this year’ pop-up ahead of Wrapped.

Spotify ‘First song you played this year’ pop-up makes users nostalgic

The music streaming platform recently brought out a feature that allows its users to see the first-ever song they played this year. The new feature asks the user to recall the song name that they listened to. After they swipe, the song is then revealed to them.

“I love that Spotify is teasing me with little bits of my Spotify wrapped. It’s like “Do you want to know what the first song you played this year was”. And I’m like of course I do I’m mentally ill,” one user posted.

Spotify Wrapped takes listeners on a musical trip. It shows them their favorite artists and most listened-to albums and songs. Moreover, the feature also notes other listening habits of users to come up with the number of minutes a specific artist played.

Reports of users who missed out on the limited feature

While many Spotify users have been sharing the first song they streamed in 2022, others have missed out on the opportunity. Some said they mistakenly ignored the notification and now can’t see it again in their app.

“Accidentally dismissed the first song listened on Spotify pop up and now it won’t appear anymore,” a user posted.

According to user reports, it doesn’t seem like a permanent Spotify feature as it disappears soon after showing the first song of the year.

However, the limited appeal of the feature makes it more fascinating to the listeners. Just like Spotify users take their Spotify Wrapped very seriously, they took the missing out to their heart. Some said they were not able to be part of a “nostalgic thrill” that gave them insights about something that was forgotten.

Unfortunately, Spotify has not given any official update or acknowledgment on whether the pop-up feature will ever be made accessible to listeners again.
