Commercial flights between Tehran and Dubai are set to resume on Monday, according to Iranian state media, weeks after the UAE was targeted by Iranian drone and missile attacks during the recent Middle East conflict.
State television, citing Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport chief Ramin Kashefazar, said all necessary preparations had been completed to restart the Tehran-Dubai route. Iran’s Sepehran Airlines has already opened ticket sales for its first scheduled flight, which is due to depart Tehran at 10:40 a.m. local time on Monday.
During the conflict, Dubai International Airport came under repeated drone attacks, forcing temporary flight suspensions on several occasions. Video circulating early in the war showed a drone crashing near one of the airport’s passenger terminals.
Iran launched waves of missiles and drones across the Gulf in response to U.S. and Israeli strikes, insisting its operations were aimed at U.S. military interests rather than civilian infrastructure.
Before the conflict, Dubai International Airport was the world’s busiest hub for international travelers. However, passenger traffic plunged 66% year-over-year as the fighting disrupted regional air travel.
The conflict has largely been paused under a ceasefire that has been in place since April, despite intermittent exchanges of fire. Meanwhile, Washington and Tehran remain engaged in a 60-day negotiation process aimed at securing a lasting peace agreement.
