New research has shown which party video games are most popular in America.

Online gaming site, compiled a list of video games in the ‘Party’ genre andanalyzed the number of Google searches to conclude which games are the most popular throughout America.

Top 10 Party Video Games in America 2022

1. Among Us – InnerSloth LLC

Despite being released in 2018, Among US is most popular party video game searched for in America. There was a staggering rise in popularity for the game due to the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020,and the game’s online multiplayer format allowing people to play remotely with ease. The game averages1,200,000monthly searches in America and has a global monthly search volume of6,890,000.

2. WWE 22K – 2K Games/Visual Concepts

WWE 22K takes second place with 313,000 monthly searches in America. Factoring in the release date (March 2022), this game seems to be very popular amongst gamers. It is also doing extremely well compared to its predecessor, WWE 2K20, which received unfavorable reviews and a monthly search volume of 23,000.

3. Rocket League – Psyonix

Rocket League is a hybrid soccer-racing game for all the soccer-heads out there. This game calls for players to drive a ball into their opponent’s goal to score points. Rocket League received on average 255,000 monthly searches on Google, beating out Mario Kart 8

4. Mario Party Superstars – Nintendo

Mario Party Superstars isthe 12th instalment in the series, and the second on Nintendo Switch, receiving on average
216,000 monthly searches on Google. This game features throwbacks to the game’s first appearance on the Nintendo 64. This title is more popular compared to its fault-finding predecessor, Super Mario Party which had a monthly search volume of 51,000 despite being released four years ago.

5. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Nintendo

In fifth place is one of the biggest crossovers fighting games in history. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a huge roster so there is something for everyone, no matter your experience. The game is nearly four years old but remains popular amongst fans with an average 144,000 monthly searches in America.

6. Brawlhalla – Ubisoft/Blue Mammoth Games

Free-to-play Brawlhalla is a platformer fighting game where you need to knock your opponent off the stage. This is one of the most popular fighting games following Super Smash Bros Ultimate, with an average of 91,000 monthly searches on Google. It has a larger global search volume compared to Smash Bros with 488,000 searches and the latter receiving 344,000.

7. Gang Beasts – Unity

In seventh place with a monthly average of 90,000 searches is Gang Beasts. This multiplayer ‘beat-em-up’ party game is available to play online or locally with your friends.

8. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Nintendo

Surprisingly, Nintendo’s best-selling game and most sold in the series, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, failed to make the top 5 popular party video games. It has a shockingly low average search volume of 78,000. This may possibly be due to the fact that the title is a remaster of the 2014 release ‘Mario Kart 8’ which was exclusive to the Nintendo Wii U. The game also has a considerably low global search volume compared to Rocket League, having 1,100,000 and Mario Kart having 254,000.

9. Just Dance 2022 – Ubisoft

Just Dance 2022 comes in at ninth place with only 59,000 monthly searches. Similar to WWE 22K, Just Dance 2022 was released fairly recently, in Q4 of 2021 showcasing its popularity, as the game is relatively few and some of the other rankings on this list are over four years old.

10. Quiplash – Jackbox Games

Quiplash is a standalone game from the Jackbox Party franchise, it is also included in the ‘Jackbox Party Packs’ and has another 3 games in its series. The game, which was released back in 2015, has an average of 55,000 monthly searches on Google in America and has a global search volume of 104,000.

It is surprising to not see some of the games on this list ranking higher, but nevertheless, it is exciting to see what party games are most popular amongst novice, intermediate and expert gamers.”
