President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States is not engaged in talks with Iran and that no negotiations are currently scheduled, while reaffirming that the U.S. naval blockade remains in effect.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz is “open and operating” and claimed that all water mines in the strategic shipping route had been removed or detonated. He offered no additional details on the status of the blockade or whether diplomatic contacts could resume.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy corridors. Trump has recently floated the idea of declaring the waterway U.S. territory and posted a map labeling the strait as “New US Territory.”
Trump has also argued that U.S. military pressure has given Washington effective control over the strait, while Iranian officials have rejected claims of American sovereignty over the waterway.
The latest statement signals that, for now, the administration is maintaining pressure on Tehran rather than publicly pursuing a new round of negotiations.
