Trump to meet with McCarthy in Florida tomorrow

Kevin McCarthy meet trump florida tomorrow

Former President of the United States Donald Trump is expected to meet Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) tomorrow in Florida, sources tell NBC and The Hill.

The meeting was first reported by Punchbowl News. The news outlet wrote in a tweet, “@GOPLeader is in S. Fla. and will meet with Trump tomorrow. McCarthy met with the mayor of Miami and is doing donor meetings.”

After January 6 Capitol riots, Former President Trump called the California Republican p***y as he blamed Trump for igniting the riots. The former President was also reportedly angry at McCarthy for his speech on the floor before Trump was impeached for a second time by the House of Representatives on January 13.

For the past four years, the House GOP leader has been projecting unflinching allegiance to Trump. However, the conflicts in the relationship between the Former President and GOP leader started right after the Capitol riots, which left five people dead after a mob stormed the Capitol building.

McCarthy still voted to dismiss Pennsylvania electors at riots night, but he later said Trump had some responsibility for the violence.

‘The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters,’ McCarthy said. ‘He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding.’

Few days after the House impeachment, Politico quoting sources reported, “Trump and McCarthy had a cordial conversation since their last, heated interactions about the riots.”

Earlier this month, McCarthy did not vote to impeach Trump, but he did not actively encourage members of his party to oppose the vote. Ultimately, ten Republicans voted for impeachment, causing a split between Trump loyalists and those who were critical of the former President.

The meeting tomorrow could be an arrangement by Kevin McCarthy as the GOP leader is trying to get back in Donald Trump’s good graces.
