US President Donald Trump on Thursday stepped up pressure on Jerome Powell to cut interest rates, the White House said, describing his first sit-down with the chairman of the Federal Reserve since his return to office.

Trump said “he believes the Fed chair is making a mistake by not lowering interest rates, which is putting us at an economic disadvantage to China and other countries,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters in Washington.

  • You cut rates, you hurt the elderly that you stole social security from and they cannot survive with 1400/month. That’s why I see 85 women working as cashiers at Walmart. Raise SS, recover all the stolen money and than do whatever you want with interest rates. Honestly, interest rates for borrowed money should be banned; that’s what Hitler did and jumped start the economy. Interest rates for deposits should be kept high and only called dividends. Do not confuse the two.
