Twitter cofounder and former CEO Jack Dorsey urged Elon Musk in a tweet on Wednesday that the Twitter Files be made public. He said that the files should be made open to “let people judge for themselves.”

The Twitter Files pertain to the internal communications about moderation decisions related to a report about President Joe Biden’s son Hunter.

Dorsey’s tweet comes days after the initial set of files published by journalist Matt Taibbi. However, those files failed to provide any remarkable new information.

Documents detailing what steps were taken to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story are now within the reach of journalists Taibbi and Bari Weiss. The initial batch of files was released on Friday, with Taibbi following up with a “Supplemental” on Tuesday.

“If the goal is transparency to build trust, why not just release everything without filter and let people judge for themselves?” Dorsey tweeted.

“Including all discussions around current and future actions? Make everything public now,” he wrote.

The Twitter founder was replying to Musk’s tweet.

So far, significant discoveries have been made, with many chat logs publicly released. Key participants have been identified. These include former Trust and Safety Chief Yoel Roth, Deputy General Counsel Jim Baker, and former legal, policy, and Vijaya Gadde.

Journalist Taibbi says most censorship was done without Dorsey’s knowledge

According to Taibbi’s original thread on the Twitter files, most censorship was done “without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey.”

“There are multiple instances in the files of Dorsey intervening to question suspensions and other moderation actions, for accounts across the political spectrum,” Taibbi stated.

Musk revealed in November that Twitter had interfered in elections. In reaction to a Reuters report concerning Twitter’s shift towards free speech under Musk, he stated: “The obvious reality, as long-time users know, is that Twitter has failed in trust & safety for a very long time and has interfered in elections. Twitter 2.0 will be far more effective, transparent and even-handed.”
