British police said Tuesday they had not found explosives in vans seen acting suspiciously near a military airbase used by the US, but had discovered a “quantity of petrol”.
“We can confirm that no improvised explosive devices were found. However, a quantity of petrol was recovered,” counter-terror police said in an update on the investigation at the Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford base in southwest England, which is used by the US military.
There have been questions around the incident after five London-based Britons were released on bail Monday after being arrested early Sunday on explosives and terror offences.
