Ukrainian drones hit a warehouse belonging to Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries hundreds of miles from the frontline on Friday, the latest in a series of attacks on its facilities.
“Firefighters have been deployed to the company’s logistics centre in Yekaterinburg… where a fire broke out as a result of an attack,” Wildberries said in a statement, adding that all staff had been moved to safety.
Regional governor Denis Pasler said three drones crashed into the roof of the warehouse early on Friday without causing any casualties in the city, more than 2,000 kilometres (1,250 miles) from the border with Ukraine.
Since mid-July, Ukraine has struck around 20 sites belonging to Wildberries, an online retail platform often described as Russia’s Amazon.
More than four years since the start of Russia’s large-scale offensive against Ukraine, diplomacy is at a standstill and the two countries are escalating their long-range strikes, causing a growing number of civilian casualties.

In retaliation, Russia targeted EU drone component assembly locations in Kiev and closed off the Ukraine’s entire coast line to all shipping. The Ukraine is virtually landlocked.
