A plan to sharply increase pain from economic sanctions on Iran aims to “collapse” the country’s government, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday.
“It is going to work in Iran and we are going to collapse this regime,” he told CNBC. “This is going to be the greatest coordinated economic isolation in the history of the world.”
