White House says aware of case of US soldier held in Russia

The White House said Monday it was aware of a case involving a US soldier who was reportedly detained in Russia over the weekend.

“We are aware of this case,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said, when asked about an NBC News report saying the soldier was stationed in South Korea and traveled to Russia where he was accused of stealing from a woman.
