The United States will keep helping Taiwan to “protect itself against coercion”, the de facto US embassy said Thursday in the American territory of Guam where Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te is visiting.
“Commensurate with the threat faced, the United States will continue to help Taiwan bolster its self-defense capabilities as well as Taiwan’s ability to protect itself against coercion,” said Ingrid Larson, managing director of the Washington office of the American Institute in Taiwan.
