US to keep helping Taiwan ‘protect itself against coercion’: de facto US embassy

US Congressional support for Taiwan 'extremely strong', says lawmaker

The United States will keep helping Taiwan to “protect itself against coercion”, the de facto US embassy said Thursday in the American territory of Guam where Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te is visiting.

“Commensurate with the threat faced, the United States will continue to help Taiwan bolster its self-defense capabilities as well as Taiwan’s ability to protect itself against coercion,” said Ingrid Larson, managing director of the Washington office of the American Institute in Taiwan.
