Explosion destroys house in Rome, Jefferson County

A house in Rome in Jefferson County exploded today, though the cause of the explosion has not been announced. We Energies, an electrical service provider to areas of Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, is reporting dozens of people are without power in the area. 

A house on Water Street in Rome, Jefferson County, has exploded, incident reportedly happened shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Images show there was nothing left of the house but debris:

Firefighters were seen spraying water into the home’s basement. The yard was littered with splintered lumber. Other debris was dangling from nearby trees. The garage doors were also blown in.
