An emergency response was launched around midday Tuesday after a plane carrying multiple people reportedly crashed in Waller County, Texas
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the incident near Morton and Cardiff roads in Waller County’s southeast corner, not far from Houston Executive Airport.
DPS officials did not immediately state how many passengers were on board, but they did state that no one was killed.
According to preliminary reports, the plane crashed after failing to gain altitude at the runway’s end.
Firefighters have reached the scene to extinguish the wreckage’s flames.
Photos posted by ABC13 show black smoke billowing from a field near the crash site.
According to reports, only one person was injured among the 21 passengers who were able to exit the plane.
The plane was identified as a McDonnell Douglas DC 9-87 with fixed wings and two engines.
