A startling video circulating online appears to show a Russian soldier accidentally firing an RPG-7 at close range during a training exercise, prompting an angry reaction from another serviceman nearby.
The incident reportedly took place at a Russian military training ground, where the soldier was handling an RPG-7 anti-tank grenade launcher. News reports said that the weapon was discharged accidentally after the soldier pulled the trigger while taking part in an exercise.
Although some reports have described the projectile as being fired directly at the soldier’s feet, the footage itself appears to show the RPG round striking the ground near his feet rather than hitting them directly.
Soldier berated after accidental RPG discharge
Moments after the unexpected discharge, another person at the training area can be heard angrily shouting at the soldier over the apparent safety mistake. Censor.NET described the episode as a serious breach of weapons-handling procedures and warned viewers that the clip contains strong language.
The brief video quickly attracted attention because of how close the discharge occurred to the soldier and others at the site. The RPG-7 was being handled at what appeared to be a firing-range setting when the incident happened.
