During his speech at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), President Donald Trump warned Iran and Cuba. In addition, he announced plans to establish two military bases in Greenland, further stating that no foreign adversary would be permitted to have a presence there. He also announced plans to formalize a new Greenland security agreement to strengthen NATO and the European and US security frameworks.

In the address, President Trump emphasized the need to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He claimed that approximately 25,000 soldiers were dying every day.

Warnings to Iran and Cuba

He accused Iran of being the “world’s leading sponsor of terrorism”. He noted that Iran had violated ceasefire agreements by striking commercial vessels. The US response, known as “Operation Epic Fury” had destroyed 159 Iranian ships. Giving an ultimatum, President Trump said that if Iran does not agree to a deal before the upcoming US midterm elections, it could face total annihilation. He reiterated that Iran would never be in a position to obtain a nuclear weapon. He also urged world leaders to join the economic blockade against Iran. Economic isolation is likely to bring Iran to the negotiating table. The Lower-level Iranian officials and delegates walked out of the hall approximately 10 minutes into President Trump’s speech.

President Trump said Cuba was an absolute failure as a state, and its communist government was failing. He accused Havana of interfering in domestic affairs and coordinating left-wing radical networks within the United States. In addition, Cuba also maintains ties with Antifa, the Communist Party USA, and the Democratic Socialists of America. All of which collectively threaten American national security.

He further defended the oil blockade against Cuba that had cut off its access to Venezuelan oil following the capture of Nicolás Maduro. In response to this speech, the entire Cuban delegation walked out of the hall.
