Top Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi said Tuesday that voters had told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that they “don’t want” him to remain in power, after election commission figures showed the government projected to return with a reduced majority.

“The country has said to Narendra Modi, ‘We don’t want you’,” Gandhi told reporters at a press conference.
