EU chief says Iran terror label ‘overdue’ for ‘regime that crushes protests in blood’

EU chief Ursula von der Leyen Thursday hailed a decision by member states to designate Iran’s Revolutionary Guard a “terrorist organisation” as “overdue” after the deadly crackdown on protests in the country.

“This was long overdue,” the European Commission president posted on X. “‘Terrorist’ is indeed how you call a regime that crushes its own people’s protests in blood,” she wrote.
