The two perpetrators of an attack on the Turkish capital Ankara which wounded two police officers earlier this month likely travelled from Syria by motorised paraglider, the interior minister said Thursday.
The two attackers in Ankara died in the attack on the Turkish Ministry of the Interior and a police building on October 1.
One detonated a bomb vest, while the other was shot dead by police.
“The perpetrators of the attack in Ankara very probably came from Syria with a motorised paraglider,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya told journalists in Istanbul.
“We have not yet been able to find the paraglider. We are working to ensure the safety of low-altitude flights,” he added, without giving further details.
The attack, for which the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) claimed responsibility, triggered a wave of retaliatory Turkish bombing raids on northern Syria and Iraq, where the PKK has bases.
