Apple Support App Update Accidentally Reveals Claude Files

Apple support app update claude files

Apple released its Support app version 5.13 around May 1, 2026. It features a key benefit that makes scrolling “buttery smooth.” Additionally, it features an upgraded wheel scrolling code that utilizes native behaviors to reduce lag. One other unexpected thing that came with the Apple Support app version 5.13 update is the Claude internal developer files.

Understanding the Claude Files in The Apple Support App Update

According to reports, the new update accidentally exposes internal instruction files, which are connected to Anthropic’s Claude system. These files, called “Claude.md,” are designed for use only in development environments. As such, they should never have been included in the new update, which is a public release.

Discovered by @aaronp613, the user said the new update is certainly an accidental release. As a tech person, when you look at this update, you’ll discover that it’s supposed to stay only within internal repositories.

Apple Support App Update Claude Files

From the screenshot shared by the X user, the Claude files from the Apple Support app update came with a title: “CLAUDE.md – Edited”. The files have structured instructions for a conversational support system. Furthermore, the content features the following:

  • Async streaming
  • Multiple backend integrations
  • Message handling roles
  • Session persistence mechanisms.

Looking at the files, we discovered it’s designed to explain exactly how an AI-powered system should work. It also details exactly how various services interact and how their communication is processed.

Why should these files not be available to the public?

With these files now available to the public, it’s likely that Apple could be using Claude internally. The giant tech company could be using it for its development workflow. Well, this isn’t surprising because the company added Claude Sonnet 4 to Xcode last September. Besides, the Claude files in the Apple Support App update could point to a packaging oversight during the build process.

For now, Apple hasn’t released an official statement to explain why the Claude files were released to the public. The only thing the team did was to quickly remove the file from the update.
