President Vladimir Putin said Friday that a string of Ukrainian attacks carried out as presidential polls were opening in Russia represented a bid to “disrupt” the voting process.

“This is an attempt to interfere with the presidential election,” Putin said, after claiming Russian troops had ousted Ukrainian forces from two border regions, and that air-defence systems had downed most projectiles fired by Kyiv’s forces.
