Brazil’s chief prosecutor on Monday charged Eduardo Bolsonaro for interfering in the coup trial against his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, by lobbying for the United States to impose sanctions against officials.

Eduardo Bolsonaro threatened judicial authorities and other officials that he would “obtain sanctions from US authorities designed to hinder and ruin their civilian lives, even in Brazil, if the criminal proceedings did not achieve their desired outcome,” reads the charge for the crime of “coercion.”
