This issue, which recently started, affects almost all pictures, including the most harmless ones. A new report indicates that Character AI has acknowledged and fixed the annoying bug, which incorrectly marks profile pictures as unsafe.

Understanding the “PFPs Unsafe” Issue

Recently, many users took to Reddit’s r/CharacterAI subreddit to air their concerns regarding the issue they’re facing. According to complaints, users reported experiencing an Avatar bug that marks their PFPs as Unsafe. Furthermore, the affected users report that the system tagged most of their profile pictures wrongly as unsafe, including the harmless images.

One of the images affected is that of a cat, which a user was trying to upload. Another user tried a plushie but also experienced the same issue. That’s not all; a user also got blocked for trying to use an avocado. The issue also affected a fully clothed video game character. Furthermore, a user mentioned that the system rejected a Gacha recreation of his OC.

Character AI Removes the Bug that Marks Profile Pictures as Unsafe

The first step to resolve this avatar bug is to inform Character AI. Well, the good news is that the team is now fully aware of the issue, based on a recent report.

Spotted by PiunikaWeb, a moderator posted on a subreddit claiming that Character AI knows of the bug that tags PFPs as unsafe. Furthermore, the moderator noted he’ll update the affected users as soon as the team rolls out a fix.

“The team is aware of the issues regarding the avatars being flagged as “unsafe”. We’ll let you guys know when the issue has been fixed.”

A few hours later, the moderator updated the information with a fix. The mod said Character AI has now fixed the issue in which profile pictures are incorrectly marked as unsafe. If you also experienced the issue, you can check your profile now for the update.
