China is developing cutting-edge brain warfare tech, including devices that can make enemies fall asleep and influence their thoughts, as reported by The Washington Times.

China to develop ‘brain warfare’ tech, People’s Liberation Army studies enhance military capabilities with advanced biological weapons

Two studies from China’s People’s Liberation Army indicate a focus on enhancing military capabilities, using advanced technology to achieve victory without traditional weapons.

These biological weapons aim to induce sleep, impair cognitive functions, reduce alertness, and affect decision-making, the report stated.

The report, “Warfare in the Cognitive Age: NeuroStrike and the PLA’s Advanced Psychological Weapons and Tactics,” was published earlier this month by The CCP Biothreats Initiative, a research group.

“The PLA is at the forefront of incorporating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, brain-computer interfaces and novel biological weapons into its military strategies,” the researchers stated.

‘In summary, the PLA’s integration of cutting-edge technologies such as AI, [brain-computer interfaces], and biological weapons into its military arsenal brings significant psychological dimensions to warfare, extending beyond their physical effects,’ according to the report.

Devices for cognitive warfare include anti-sleep glasses, designed to boost alertness. The report also reveals other weapons such as ‘soft-kill radio waves,’ utilizing electromagnetic energy to induce drowsiness in enemies.

There are also reports that China is working on weapons directly controlled by a soldier’s thoughts, enabling them to manipulate enemies.

China to develop ‘genetic drugs’ to alter traits for cognitive, emotional, and behavioral impact

The Chinese army is also reportedly developing ‘genetic drugs’ designed to alter genetic and physiological traits, aiming to impact cognitive, emotional, and behavioral characteristics.

In a 2022 report from the Chinese army, they outlined ‘five battles of cognition’ as key elements to influence future conflicts. ‘The objective is to create a powerful deterrent and asymmetric advantage,’ the report added.

Analysts have discovered that the research is being conducted by two Chinese military units, Unit 94969 and Unit 96812. These units are focused on both defensive and offensive cognitive warfare development.

Recently, a declassified intelligence assessment revealed that China, along with Russia, Iran, and Cuba, attempted to interfere in the 2022 US congressional elections, DailyMail reported.

The report indicates strong evidence that China endorsed efforts to influence several midterm races involving candidates from both political parties.

This interference is believed to be part of a broader directive from Chinese Communist Party leaders, who have been intensifying efforts since 2020 to shape US policy and public opinion in China’s favor.

The assessment highlighted China’s focus on exacerbating divisions within rival parties in the United States, with particular attention to specific candidates.
