Croatia’s ruling conservative HDZ party took the lead in a parliamentary election Wednesday, winning most seats but not enough for the outright majority needed to form a government, according to an exit poll.
HDZ won 58 seats in the 151-member assembly, the poll by Ipsos agency showed. The poll said a centre-left coalition led by the Social Democrats (SDP) won 44 seats, followed by the right-wing Homeland Movement (DP) with 13 seats.
