A Dutch court on Thursday sentenced two Russians and a Ukranian to life imprisonment after they were convicted in absentia of downing Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine in 2014.

“The court calls the proven charges so severe that it holds that only the highest possible prison sentence would be appropriate,” head judge Hendrik Steenhuis said.
