Facebook down: Search function not working for many users [UPDATED]

UPDATE: Facebook is working normal after a brief outage.

Thousands of Facebook users worldwide are experiencing outages. Many users say their Facebook is down.

Reports of outages began around 11:30 a.m. ET, according to Down Detector, a website that monitors such outages.

Users have reported issues with the social media platform’s app and website, but it is unclear what caused the issues.

The outage affects New York, DC, California and other US states, as well as Australia, China, and parts of Europe.

When the outage first occurred, more than 700 reports were received by the Down Detector.

Users are having difficulty searching for people and events within the app, and some are unable to log into their accounts.

Many users have taken to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction with the app, with one user stating that the Facebook search feature appeared to be broken, writing: “Is anyone facing this issue while searching in #facebook?”

One more user said: “Search function on Facebook isn’t working.”
