On Tuesday, Fortune recognized billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk as the most powerful person in business for 2024.
Elon Musk leads the publication’s list of the 100 most powerful people in business, followed by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, Berkshire Hathaway’s Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett, and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.
The top 10 also features notable tech executives: Apple’s Tim Cook, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and Google’s Sundar Pichai, along with General Motors CEO Mary Barra.
“In the end, the people who earned places on the Most Powerful People list share a vital trait: Their words, deeds, and wealth shape what others around them think and do,” Fortune stated.

Musk, also the world’s wealthiest person, has vast holdings, including Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X. His portfolio extends to smaller ventures like the AI company xAI and the neurotech firm Neuralink.
Recently, Musk’s wealth has surged further due to a rise in Tesla’s stock following President-elect Trump’s victory. Last week, the electric vehicle maker’s market value surpassed $1 trillion, continuing its upward trend on Monday.
In addition to his business ventures, Musk’s significant wealth and extensive influence on X played a crucial role in bolstering President-elect Trump’s campaign in the race’s final months.
Musk was also personally involved in Trump’s campaign, appearing at several rallies alongside the Republican candidate and hosting town halls in Pennsylvania in the final weeks of the election.
In his victory speech last week, Trump acknowledged Musk’s support, following his decisive win over Vice President Harris in both the Electoral College and the popular vote.
“We have a new star,” Trump said.
There is speculation that Musk will take on a role within the new administration, though the specifics are unclear. Trump has previously mentioned that Musk might lead a panel aimed at reducing government spending.
